What does it consist of? This technique is used to check that students have clearly understood the instructions for a task, whether it is short or long. After giving the instructions, the teacher asks students questions so they can explain what they have to do. The focus is not on checking language content, but on checking task procedure.
What do we achieve with this technique? – making sure all students know exactly what to do – preventing misunderstandings before the task starts – encouraging students to pay attention to instructions – saving time and reducing interruptions during the activity
Example: After explaining the homework, the teacher can ask questions such as: – which page are the exercises on? – how much time do you have – can you do it with a partner?
